Coaching with Birkman Method
The Birkman Method is a psychometric tool that reports on both behavioral and occupational data and leverages a unique methodology for assessing personality through positive psychology.
The goal of positive psychology is to help people live and flourish rather than merely exist and is a “view within scientific psychology that aims to achieve a balanced and empirically grounded body of research on human nature and social relations” (Keyes & Haidt, 2003, p. 3).
The Birkman does not look for pathologies. It is based on the measurement of normal personality traits. Personality traits paint a clear picture of who you are and how you see the world.
As a coaching aid it is unsurpassed.
This coaching starts with the client taking the Birkman assessment, a roughly 45 minute commitment in time. Upon receipt of the report the coach and client discuss the results and the coaching process is underway.
The coaching direction can take one, two or both routes:
1. Occupational—Are you in the right career, if not which way should you go.
2. Behavioral—If you are in the right career, are you flourishing or is there room for improvement and increased satisfaction.
There is no ideal personality. Each of us has an individual persona, a unique and legitimate way of seeing our world. The Birkman Method assessment provides insight into that part of us that we sense is there but don’t really know.
Known as the most accurate among all the personality trait assessments, the Birkman Method provides the most descriptive and prescriptive information available today.
